Art Exhibitions
Hook & Line will host two art exhibitions. One will be located at the Flight Tea Bar & Lounge on Clay Street in Mebane, and the other will be located at the Mebane Arts and Community Center on Corrigedor Street. The exhibitions extend the themes of Hook & Line and celebrate the legacy and achievements of Joe and Odell Thompson. The themes also reference the music they played: Old-Time, Country, and Traditional American music.

Panel Discussion and Community Dance We will begin the evening with a discussion of the history and heritage of old-time music. Our panelists will include Glenn Hinson, Justin Robinson, and Rhiannon Giddens!
Immediately following our panel will be our community dance and frolic. We will have a brief introduction to square dancing so everyone can learn the steps. We want everyone interested to be able to participate!

Country Soul Food Cook Down, Statue Dedication, and Music at Fiddler Stage The inaugural Hook & Line festival will feature a competition for non-professionals who cook delicious homemade soul food. Justin Robinson will curate this event. Judges include Pheron Sledge, Steve Krans, Steve Valentino, Travis “Boon” Evans, and Vivette Jeffries-Logan.
The afternoon will also include a formal dedication of the Knee to Knee statue by Brad Spencer, honoring Joe and Odell Thompson. Special guest speakers include Dr. Iris Thompson Chapman, Mayor Ed Hooks, and NC Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green.
From 12:00 to 4:00 pm, there will be a History Harvest in honor of Odell and Joe Thompson. Bring items that tell the story of our shared history, and they will be digitized for a public archive!
Throughout the afternoon, local and touring musicians will perform at the Fiddler Stage and around park grounds. Please bring your own blanket or chair and enjoy!
